Suggested Activities

Once you decide to serve as Principal for a Day, you will be assigned to a school and receive a packet of information. You are encouraged to talk to the principal of your assigned school before visiting to discuss plans and activities for the day. We hope the activities at your school will include opportunities to talk with faculty, shadow the principal, and/or work with a few students in reading, mathematics, or another subject. You are also encouraged to speak with a class or a larger group of students about your work and the activities that most engage your time. If you are an alumnus or an alumna, you can talk to the students about your experience as a student at the school.

Other activities include the following:

  • Meet with your principal and leadership team over lunch to brainstorm how you and your business can stay involved in the school

  • Meet with school staff and Local School Council members

  • Deliver morning announcements over the P.A.

  • Tour the school

  • Visit classrooms and participate in class discussions

  • Read books to students

  • Speak at an assembly regarding career paths
